Puerto Aventuras, Mexico
Immigrants from across Mexico have moved into the Mexican Riviera looking for jobs in the tourist industry. Puerto Aventuras is a small city south of Playa del Carmen. While living on the edge of the Yucatan jungle on the outskirts of the city, families are struggling. There are no schools in this area, so a group has started a private school out in the jungle for these children to attend. The school runs on volunteers and barely makes it.
Teams can participate in a week of educational classes for the children, which may include science, art, music, English, and physical education. And, we want to find ways to encourage and love the teachers and administrators of the school. There are plenty of physical projects to do for those with construction skills. It is also a place where we can share the gospel of Christ.
