The Worship & Young Adult Director leads and nurtures both the worship life of First Evangelical Covenant Church and the spiritual formation of young adults (post–high school). This role invites the congregation into meaningful, Christ-centered worship while also helping young adults grow as disciples of Jesus through community, teaching, service, and outreach.
This individual serves both up front and behind the scenes—leading worship, developing teams, and planning services—while also building relational, engaging environments where young adults can deepen their faith and connection to the church. The Director collaborates closely with staff and pastors to cultivate a vibrant, unified worship culture and a thriving young adult ministry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Worship Leadership & Planning
Plan, lead and shape worship gatherings (music, Scripture, prayer, etc.) in collaboration with Senior Pastor
Select songs that reflect sound theology and encourage participation
Plan and help lead special services (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week)
Organize weekly service elements and communication
Support both contemporary and traditional worship expressions
Oversee worship-related budget, instruments, and equipment
2. Worship Teams & Technical Oversight
Lead and rehearse worship teams
Recruit, schedule, and develop volunteers (musicians, vocalists, tech)
Provide encouragement, care, and leadership development
Build a healthy, collaborative team culture
Support sound, slides, and livestream elements
Ensure a consistent and quality worship experience
Partner with the AV team
3. Young Adult Ministry Leadership
Lead and coordinate ministry for young adults (first decade after high school)
Create environments for discipleship, community, worship, outreach, and service
Oversee Sunday gatherings, special events, and seasonal opportunities (retreats, mission trips, service projects)
Help young adults grow into fully committed disciples who impact their world
Encourage participation in the intergenerational life of the church
4. Teaching, Discipleship & Pastoral Care
Provide engaging, biblically grounded teaching for young adults
Offer spiritual guidance, mentorship, and care to young adults
Help young adults grow in understanding and living out their faith
Prioritize relational presence in both church and everyday settings
5. Volunteer & Leadership Development
Recruit and develop leaders and volunteers for both worship and young adult ministry
Equip others to disciple, mentor, and lead
Foster a culture of shared leadership and spiritual growth
Partner with church staff and ministry teams
6. Outreach, Engagement & Administration
Foster a heart for evangelism and outreach among young adults
Create pathways for people at different stages of faith
Stay aware of young adult culture and needs
Help set vision, goals, and direction for young adult ministry
Provide organizational and budget oversight
Communicate ministry updates with church leadership
7. Collaboration & Church Life
Participate in staff meetings and worship planning
Work closely with the Senior Pastor on worship and ministry integration
Collaborate with the Next Generation team and other ministries
Support worship and relational elements of church-wide events
Relationships
Reports to the Senior Pastor
Works closely with church staff and ministry leaders
Oversees worship-related staff and volunteers (AV team, choir, tech, etc.)
Collaborates with the Next Generation team
Partners with leadership teams to shape vision for worship and young adult ministry
Qualifications
Strong Christian faith and love for worship and discipleship
Passion for young adults and their spiritual formation
Experience leading worship and young adult or youth ministry
Musical skill (vocal and/or instrumental)
Ability to teach, mentor, and build relationships
Proven ability to recruit, lead, and develop volunteers
Organized, proactive, and collaborative
Familiarity with worship planning and tech tools (e.g., Planning Center, ProPresenter)
Basic understanding of sound and production
Strong communication and leadership skills
Alignment with the mission and values of FirstCovGR and the ECC
Ability to manage time and work independently
Willingness to complete a background check and follow child safety policies
Active participant in the life of the church, with a visible Sunday presence
This position is full-time. A computer will be provided (computer will remain church property).
