Compelling Preaching
The Compelling Preaching Initiative aims to support pastors in their calling to proclaim the gospel. This initiative focuses on the interior life of the preacher by encouraging reflection, prayer, and spiritual health. A variety of cohorts and learning experiences are available to encourage preachers to tend to their inner lives.
The Compelling Preaching Initiative is funded through a generous grant from the Lily Foundation.
We Are Committed To:
- Supporting all types of pastors and preachers: lead, associate, bivocational, chaplains, etc.
- Partnering with existing groups and associations: African American Ministers Association (AAMA), Association for Covenant Clergy Women (ACCW), Asociación Latina de la Iglesia del Pacto Evangélico (ALIPE), Covenant Asian Pastors Association (CAPA), Indigenous Ministers Association (IMA), and regional ministerial associations.
- Making the grant as accessible as possible through virtual, regional, and national opportunities.
- Learning through collegial and collaborative cohorts and other opportunities.
- Encouraging pastors to be reflective, listen well to their congregations, and be lifelong learners.

Roundtables
Compelling Preaching Roundtables are a virtual learning option offered monthly and cover a variety of preaching topics, including constructing a sermon series, planning for Advent, preaching and AI, and equipping lay preachers.
Roundtables are hosted conversations where preachers have the opportunity to learn from one another in an encouraging and collegial environment. Dates and topics are announced through the Serve Clergy monthly communications.
