Funeral Service April 7 for Beth Swanson

GRANTSBURG, WI (February 21, 2012) – A funeral service for Beth (Cole) Swanson, 97, widow of Evangelical Covenant Church minister Earl Swanson, will be conducted at 11 a.m. April 7 at Calvary Covenant Church. She died February 13 in Ft. Mill, South Carolina.

Swanson was born March 6, 1914, in Walkerville, Michigan. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from what is now Central Michigan University. She taught public school in Essex Iowa, and Hillsdale, Wisconsin.

She and her husband were married in June 1951. He died in 1998.

The couple served Covenant churches in Tustin and Leroy, Michigan; Garfield and Evansville, Minnesota; Essex, Iowa; Chetek, Wisconsin; and in Emo and Fort Frances, Ontario.

Survivors include her two children, Steve Swanson and Alberta Madsen.
