Bethany Covenant Village to Change Ownership

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (April 30, 2012) – The Bethany Covenant Village senior living center will come under new ownership according to terms of an agreement announced today by Covenant Retirement Communities and Senior Health Management of Minneapolis.

The ownership change does not affect the senior residents living in the 66-bed skilled nursing facility that also includes 16 assisted living apartments. Bethany residents and staff were advised of the pending transfer of ownership during an informational meeting earlier today.

Bethany Covenant Village, which began 83 years ago as a ministry of local Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) congregations, has been operated by Covenant Retirement Communities, which is part of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence.

Located in the Windom neighborhood, it has operated as its own retirement community offering assisted living with skilled nursing care. Covenant Retirement Communities also provides a separate community of residential and assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing at nearby Covenant Village of Golden Valley. The Bethany transfer does not include the Golden Valley property or impact any of the Golden Valley services.

“We have been assured by Senior Health Management that it is their intent to maintain the traditions for which Bethany is known,” said Gary Gardeen, executive director for Covenant Retirement Communities of Minnesota.

Gardeen said the Bethany name will continue to be used. The change in ownership is contingent upon license transfers from the Minnesota Department of Health.
