North Pacific, Midsouth Welcome New Churches

MOUNT VERNON, WA (May 3, 2012) – Delegates to the North Pacific Conference annual meeting honored Superintendent Mark Novak for his years of service. He is the nominee to succeed Dave Kersten as executive minister of the Department of Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC).

Associate Superintendent Don Robinson will serve as acting superintendent during the search for a successor.

At the meeting held April 27-28 at Bethany Covenant Church, delegates voted to recommend two churches for membership: Lettered Streets Covenant Church of Bellingham, Washington, and Faith Covenant Church (formerly Sumner Presbyterian of Sumner, Washington). Delegates to the ECC Annual Meeting June 21-24 in Irvine, California, will vote on the recommendations.

Three church plants also were welcomed: Access Covenant Church of Portland, Oregon; City of Rain Covenant Church of Kent Washington; and Rogue Valley Covenant of Medford, Washington.

It was announced that Faith Covenant in Sumner will host the 2013 Annual Meeting on April 26-27.

The Midsouth Conference held its Annual Meeting April 20-21 and celebrated the theme “Family Reunion.”

The conference family grew as delegates recommended five new churches for membership: Canal Street Church in New Orleans, Louisiana; Grace Covenant Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Life Covenant Church Fort Bend in Sugar Land, Texas; Sonoma Springs Covenant Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Summit Covenant Church in Newcastle, Oklahoma.

Those churches also will come before delegates to the ECC Annual Meeting.
