Webcast to Focus on Israel, Palestine Issues

CHICAGO, IL (September 16, 2013) — Christian perspectives and potential responses to the conflict in Israeli and Palestine will be the topic of a live webcast featuring Mae Elise Cannon and Jay Phelan at 10 a.m. (CDT) Friday.

Cannon serves as the senior director of advocacy and outreach—Middle East for World Vision USA. She is an ordained Covenant minister. Prior to joining World Vision, Cannon lived in East Jerusalem where she served as a consultant on child advocacy issues for Compassion International. She is an adjunct professor at North Park Theological Seminary and a doctoral candidate in American history at the University of California—Davis. Her dissertation focuses on the history of the American Protestant church in Israel and Palestine.

Jay Phelan is senior professor of theological studies and former president and dean of North Park Theological Seminary. He is currently writing a book on the topic.
