CHICAGO, IL (October 7, 2013) — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Advocacy for Victims of Abuse (AVA) has just released an updated version of “Why AVA.”

The video produced by North Pacific Conference videographer Karina Nyquist provides information on how churches can advocate for people who have experienced abuse.

AVA will hold a “Mending the Soul Training” at Arlington United Covenant Church in Arlington, Washington. The training is for anyone interested in becoming a mentor who comes alongside victims of abuse to guide them through a workbook study that will take them through a healing process.

Men and women from any Christian organization are eligible to apply. Cost for the nine hours of training is $35. For more information or to register, email Bobette Scheid or call 206-232-9854.
