Kids Helping Kids Curriculum and other CWR Materials Now Available

CHICAGO, IL (October 8, 2014) — When nine-year-old Law Eh fell off a truck in a UN refugee camp located in northwest Burma, he broke his leg. He suffered in severe pain for two weeks because the local government hospital doesn’t treat him or any of the 40,000 other refugees crammed into the camp. Finally he was taken to a health clinic sponsored by Covenant World Relief (CWR) and received the needed treatment.

Law Eh is part of the Rohingya people group in Burma, who have been persecuted in their own country because of their ethnicity and religion. The camp where they live has little food, water, or sanitation.

Through the Kids Helping Kids curriculum, sponsored by CWR and Make and Deepen Disciples, children in Covenant churches can help alleviate the suffering of people like Law Eh.

Ministries that partner with CWR are serving people around the world who have been forced to flee their homes and now live in similar camps. More than 51 million people are now forcibly displaced worldwide, the largest number since World War II. Half of the refugee population in 2013 were children—the most in a decade.

Materials for the Kids Helping Kids ministry, as well as many other projects helping some of the poorest people in the world, have been sent to local churches as part of the CWR fall emphasis. Much of it also is available online and can be downloaded.

The sample material includes a CWR update, bulletin inserts, brochure, poster, offering envelopes, DVD, the newly designed soup-can label, and a Kids Helping Kids Refugees postcard.

Additional copies of the material can be ordered for free at the CWR website.

Because of the generosity of Covenanters, CWR was able to distribute $1.7 million to 65 projects around the world in the past year.
