East Coast Conference Calls New Associate Superintendent

CROMWELL, CT (March 31, 2017)  — The East Coast Conference has called Barbara Ettinger to serve as associate superintendent. In the newly created position, she will focus on resourcing pastors and congregations in the areas of discipleship and leadership development.

Ettinger most recently served as the national theological formation manager for InterVarsity/USA’s discipleship initiative. She previously served that organization as the college ministry planting area director in central Connecticut.

“Barbara brings tremendous expertise, sensitivity, wisdom, and vision with her into this role,” said conference superintendent Howard Burgoyne.

Ettinger attends Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester, Connecticut, where she serves as a key leader for adult discipleship and as the church vice chair.

In accepting the call, Ettinger said, “One of my greatest joys is the opportunity to be part of life transformation in God’s people. Whether it’s discipling toward a moment of decision or all along the continuum of growth and change from that point forward, watching God conform his people to the image of Jesus never gets old!”

Ettinger earned a bachelor of arts degree from Ursinus College, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a master’s of theological studies from Bethel Seminary. Previously credentialed with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, she was ordained in the ECC to Word and Sacrament in 2013.

She will preach the first night of the Conference Annual Meeting to be held Friday and Saturday, April 28–29, the Covenant church in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She will be installed that evening.

Ettinger and her husband, Jeff, live in Vernon, Connecticut. They have two adult sons.
