CHICAGO, IL (July 5, 2017) – This year’s Kids Helping Kids project focuses on providing assistance for children whose lives have been upended by disasters around the world. Sample materials for the Covenant World Relief (CWR) fall emphasis have been sent to all Covenant churches and are available for download.
Dave Husby, CWR director, emphasizes that although the project is part of their fall emphasis, the materials are designed to be used at any time during the year.
Disasters impact millions of children every year, and in most places there is a lack of resources and infrastructure to help people through them. The disruption often impacts the next generation of children.
The project, co-sponsored by Covenant World Relief and Make and Deepen Disciples, raises children’s awareness and funds for efforts that serve some of the poorest people in the world.
Throughout the 12-week curriculum children will learn about the experiences of other kids around the world, play cooperative games, and have opportunities to respond to the lesson. Special offerings help CWR partners to alleviate suffering of children impacted by disasters in places like Nepal, Iraq, India, and Ethiopia.
The material was written by Jessica Springer, associate pastor of children’s ministries at Community Covenant Church in Lenexa, Kansas.
