Walter: ‘We Grieve the Horrific Loss’

CHICAGO, IL (October 2, 2017) – Evangelical Covenant Church President Gary Walter released a statement this afternoon in response to the massacre in Las Vegas:

“We grieve the horrific loss of life in Las Vegas. Gun violence continues to take too many lives and wound too many psyches. We see it vividly here in the largest mass shooting in US history, but it is insidiously experienced in numbing regularity in communities across our country. We pray for the families of those who have perished, and we pray for victims recovering from wounds seen and unseen. May we be light for a different way, knowing Jesus says being peace-makers is a trait of the family of God.”

At least 58 people were killed and more than 500 injured when a 64-year-old gunman opened fire Sunday night on a country music concert. It is the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.
