CHICAGO, IL (December 6, 2017) – Contributors to the Evangelical Covenant Church’s #GivingTuesday campaign to raise money for CHIC scholarships met the $10,000 match, said Tim Ciccone, ECC director of youth ministry.
Ciccone said he is grateful for Covenanters’ generosity and excited about how the offering will help others.
“It is our goal to help make it possible for more youth to attend CHIC and be transformed by the love of Jesus,” Ciccone said. “Your support has helped to make this possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
The funds will help students in under-resourced congregations as well as students from areas impacted by the recent natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey to attend CHIC. Harvey inflicted nearly $200 billion damage in the Houston metropolitan area, according to official reports.
CHIC brings together more than 5,000 high school students from around the world for worship, transformation, and fun every three years. The event acts as a catalyst in students’ lives, helping them see the big picture of God’s kingdom and inspiring them to dive deeper into their faith—together.
It will be held July 20-25 at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The theme is UNITE.
