Condap Called to Be Pilgrim Pines Executive Director

CROMWELL, CT (December 20, 2017) – Jim Condap has been called to serve as executive director of Pilgrim Pines Conference Center, in Swanzey, New Hampshire, it was announced today. He currently serves as the interim director.

“Through hard work, dedication, and relationship-building, Jim has served faithfully for many years, seeking first God’s will for the Pines,” said Kimberly Mann, a member of the camp Board of Directors.

Condap has served the Pines in several roles over many years. From 1993 to 1998, he served at Camp Squanto, directing the camp from 1996 to 1998. After serving in pastoral ministry in two churches, he returned to the Pines in 2006 to serve as ministry director. In 2015 and again in 2017, Condap served as acting director.

Condap has served broadly in the ECC in ministry leadership and on several CHIC teams as MainStage operations director. He is the current president of the Association of Covenant Camps and Conference Centers.

“Serving as ministry director at Pilgrim Pines is a ministry I deeply love where I have found great joy and challenge. More than ever, I am seeing fruit in our ministry to young people, adults, families, and individuals, and my heart is for their continued formation and growth in Christ,” Condap says. “I believe in Christian camping and in the ministry of Pilgrim Pines and the East Coast Conference and am grateful for the opportunity to help camp move forward.”

The call concludes a search begun last spring by a joint committee representing the camp and conference boards, led by Bruce Bergstrom and including six other members. The committee welcomed applicants and nominations from across the ECC and within broader Christian camping networks.

Bergstrom commented, “Jim has a strong track record of leadership both inside and outside of camp. This combined with his deep industry knowledge, institutional tenure, along with his various leadership roles within our conference churches, Pilgrim Pines and the greater Covenant makes Jim uniquely qualified to lead camp.”

Condap and his wife, Erin, and three daughters live in Swanzey. They are members of Monadnock Covenant Church in Keene, New Hampshire. Plans to recognize the call and host an installation service will be announced after the holidays.

Pilgrim Pines Conference Center and Camp Squanto are a ministry of the East Coast Conference. In 2018 it will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of ministry programming on Lake Swanzey.

A series of special events and activities are being planned to mark this significant milestone.
