SPRING VALLEY, CA (December 28, 2017) – Catherine “Kitty” (Christopher) Salo, wife of retired Covenant pastor, William V. Salo, died Wednesday, December 20. She was 80 years old.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, December 29, at Mount Miguel Covenant Village.
Kitty was born October 13, 1937, in Cambridge, Maryland, and grew up on a farm in Williamsburg, Maryland, a town of approximately 100 residents.
She earned her R.N. at the Mound Park Nursing School in St. Petersburg, Florida, before moving to Chicago to work.
She married William on October 1, 1960. William pastored three United Methodist Churches before transferring his ordination to the ECC. The couple served Covenant congregations in Phoenix, Arizona; and Ridgeway, Pennsylvania.
Kitty worked at nursing homes as supervising charge nurse and director of nurses.
The couple retired in 1997 to Mount Miguel. While living in the retirement community, Kitty, served as a representative for her building and served for four years on the Management Advisory Committee.
Survivors include her husband, daughter Cheryl Salo, and son William D. Salo.
