CHICAGO, IL (March 26, 2018) – Friday is the last day for letters of appreciation in honor of retiring ECC president Gary Walter will be received.
The letters will be compiled into a special bound volume and presented to Gary and his wife, Nancy, at the Covenant Annual Meeting in June.
“We are asking all who have been touched by Gary’s ministry to participate in this special project,” said Alice Lee, chair of the ECC Executive Board.
“Since beginning his ministry in 1979 as a local church minister, Gary has spent the past 27 of those years serving the mission of God through his roles at Covenant Offices with inspirational leadership as director of church planting, executive minister of church growth and evangelism, and for the past 10 years as president,” Lee said. “These have been years of unprecedented growth as the Covenant has, in Gary’s words, gone ‘deeper in Christ and further in mission.'”
“My core identity is that of a Covenant pastor,” Walter said last August when he announced his plan to retire. “Every position, including this one, has been a distinct and humbling opportunity. My hope for all of these years has simply been to be found faithful as a disciple and servant of Jesus.”
All letters must be received no later than March 30 to be included. Pictures are also welcome, especially if you have a photo of yourself with Gary and/or Nancy.
