PLANTATION, FL (July 9, 2018) – Memorial services for retired Covenant pastor and chaplain Paul J. Everts will be held July 17 in Plantation, and on September 22 in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Paul, 91, died June 17. He was born on September 5, 1926, in Cazenovia, New York, to Herman P. and Beryl (Emery) Everts.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University School of Floriculture, graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary, and did a year of special studies at North Park Theological Seminary. He enlisted in the US Navy during WW II.
Paul married Muriel (Owens) Everts on June 12, 1948.
He served Maywood Covenant Church in Foley, Minnesota, and Knollbrook Covenant Church in Fargo, North Dakota. He served as a US Navy chaplain from 1964 until he retired in 1988.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Peter (Marty) Everts and David (Karen) Everts; three daughters, Connie Clark (Tim); Judy Downs (George), and Jana Davila (Rodney); 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Covenant Village of Florida Benevolent Fund, 9215 W. Broward Blvd., Plantation, FL 33324.
