Yee Named Executive Director of Ministry Development

CHICAGO, IL (September 13, 2018) – Angela Yee, an ordained Covenant minister who has served in a number of leadership roles in local churches, has been appointed executive director of ministry development, it was announced today by ECC President John Wenrich.

In this position Yee will work alongside the president to provide leadership and general oversight of ministry developments of the ECC, including the activities of the denomination’s five mission priorities (Start and Strengthen Churches, Make and Deepen Disciples, Develop Leaders, Love Mercy Do Justice, and Serve Globally). The executive director also facilitates collaboration of Covenant Offices with the ECC’s regional conferences and affiliate organizations. The role has previously been filled by Richard Lucco. He will continue to serve as special assistant to the president through December.

“Angela is a Spirit-filled, transformational, and creative leader,” said Wenrich. “She excels at helping leaders turn vision into reality, and we are honored that she is joining our team.”

Yee most recently served as executive pastor of Hug Church, a Covenant church plant in Fullerton, California. Prior to that, she served as director of mission and ministry at Saddleback Church in Irvine, California.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Illinois in 1989 and her Master of Divinity degree from Rockbridge Seminary in 2015. In addition to her work in local churches, she has extensive experience as a graphic designer, project manager, and leadership coach. She also has been a board member of the Covenant Asian Pastors Association (CAPA).

“When I moved away from my hometown in a suburb of Chicago 30 years ago, I never imagined I would return. But God’s plans are always greater than my own, and I am excited and grateful for the Lord’s leading to join the mission, organization, and people that I deeply love,” said Yee.

One of her joys, she said, is helping others succeed and enabling the church to unleash its potential through the people God has brought. “He has shown me over the years that my passion for the local church and its efforts to carry out God’s mission is best accomplished through a team of people with different giftings,” she added. “I am thrilled to join a team of amazing leaders who toil passionately to make Christ’s name known.”

Yee and her husband, Albert, who is currently an engineering professor at Biola University, have two adult children, Daniel, 24, and Megan, 22. She will assume her new responsibilities October 8.
