Day 14 Gift Idea: Community Development

CHICAGO, IL (December 14, 2018) – Throughout the Advent season, Covenant Newswire is highlighting daily gift selections from the CovenantCares giving guide. Through the free annual catalog, Covenanters can partner with brothers and sisters around the globe to give gift donations that will help serve communities and advance God’s work in many areas.

Through creating pathways to living wage employment, ministry for marginalized youth, programming for those who are incarcerated as well as for returning citizens, and other economic and educational empowerment ministries, the ECC partners with local churches to respond to individual, family, and community needs. An expanding ministry is working with churches to develop community-centered enterprises (social enterprises), which are local businesses that seeks to generate self-sustaining revenue while also addressing a community concern.

Social enterprises developed by churches include the award-winning 5000 Pies takeout restaurant and Fleurish Industries.

This and other missional gift-giving options are available now through CovenantCares Gifts for Mission. Please join us in advancing the mission.
