Day 18 Gift Idea: Domestic Disaster Response

CHICAGO, IL (December 18, 2018) – Throughout the Advent season, Covenant Newswire is highlighting daily gift selections from the CovenantCares giving guide. Through the free annual catalog, Covenanters can partner with brothers and sisters around the globe to give gift donations that will help serve communities and advance God’s work in many areas.

Today we highlight domestic disaster response. In recent years, historic storms, fires, and flooding have devastated large portions of the United States. Donations from Covenanters have enabled the denomination to work with local partners to provide short-term relief, and long-term recovery.

Sarah Robinson, pastor of Audubon Park Covenant Church in Orlando, Florida, said her church would have had to close its doors for good if not for the generosity of Covenanters who gave so that the building’s roof could be repaired following Hurricane Irma.

Covenanters working through the Covenant’s Merge ministries have helped numerous individuals and families. In the Companion story “Catastrophic Grace,” a Houston woman whose home sustained heavy damage from Hurricane Harvey said, “It was humbling to have people come down to help us. There were fifteen people at our house helping with remediation at one point. They all just had servants’ hearts. It was a huge weight off of our shoulders.”

This and other missional gift-giving options are available now through CovenantCares Gifts for Mission. Please join us in advancing the mission.
