Lund Lectures, Seminary Symposium on Middle East to Be Webcast

CHICAGO, IL (September 4, 2019) – The Nils W. Lund lectures will be presented September 25-26 in Isaacson Chapel at North Park Theological Seminary. They will be followed by the seminary’s annual symposium, which will focus on “Holy Land: Biblical Perspectives and Contemporary Conflicts,” September 26-28.

Dr. K. Lawson Younger, Jr., professor of Old Testament, Semitic Languages, and Ancient Near Eastern History at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, will deliver two Lund lectures entitled “Context Matters” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25.

Dr. Philip Alexander, professor of post-biblical Jewish literature at the University of Manchester, England, will present the lectures “The Hermeneutics of Hebrews” and “The Heavenly Tabernacle in Hebrews” from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, September 26.

The lectures are free and open to the public. No registration is required. The sessions will be livestreamed at the event website.

The symposium will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday and extend through Saturday afternoon, September 28. Registration is free and required. The sessions will be livestreamed on the event website and do not require registration.

  • Munther Isaac, academic dean of Bethlehem Bible College

  • Rula Mansour, director of peace studies at Nazareth Evangelical College
  • Yehiel Poupko, rabbinic scholar at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago
  • Joel Willitts, professor of biblical and theological studies and practical theology at North Park University
