STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA—Retired Covenant minister Dennis Clark Olson died September 18. He was 86.
Dennis was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 26, 1935. He earned a BA from Biola University and an MA and PhD from the California Graduate School of Theology.
He married Sharon (Stingley) Olson on January 15, 1959. They served churches in Yucaipa, Torrance, Sacramento, Arnold, Stockton, and Wilmington, California. Dennis was bi-vocational, also working as an x-ray technologist for 50 years. He authored a book on discipleship titled The Church Needs a New Model. He also served as a police chaplain and a Christian radio talk show host. Dennis was known for his love, generosity, compassion, and heart for evangelism and discipleship.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon; children Michael (Eilene), Kathy (Debi), David (Denise), Stephen (Francine), and Erik (Michelle), thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother Rick Hubbard, and sister Carolyn Olson Wright, and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brothers Terry Olson and Greg Hubbard.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Rose Chapel, 520 N Sutter Street, Stockton, CA 95209.
