What are you currently reading?

A Testament of Hope, by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

What do you hope pastors and ministry leaders who attend Midwinter will take away from your talk?

My simple prayer is that pastors are encouraged—not just in their humanity and their calling, but also toward the marathon of obedience and faithfulness. I believe that one of the most significant impediments to ministry is the spirit of discouragement.

What does the Midwinter theme, “Immeasurably More,” mean to you in your life and ministry context?

In short, this speaks to the character of God. In a culture that often feels as if we swim in a pool of fear, anxiety, and scarcity, we need to know the character and nature of God, and how this truth informs who we are and how we ought to live our lives.

What would Midwinter attendees be surprised to learn about you?

I’m an introvert and was voted the shyest kid in middle school and by God’s grace, strived to overcome my fear of people and speaking in public.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I had no choice. My parents ordained me to become a doctor. It’s a long, classic, immigrant tale.

What was your first job?

Right after immigrating to the US as a six-year-old, I joined my brothers and worked in our family grocery store.

What was the last song you sang along to?

CeCe Winans’s “Goodness of God”
