Ruth Honnette Winstedt, widow of Rev. Robert Honnette and Rev. Clarence Winstedt, passed on July 4, 2024, in Hilmar, California. She was 102.
Ruth was born in Braham, Minnesota, on November 23, 1921. She grew up in southern Minnesota. She was one of ten children. Ruth graduated from the nursing program at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and worked as a registered nurse for many years.
Ruth married Robert Honnette on June 14, 1944, in Worthington, Minnesota. Together they had three children: Donna, Dean, and Richard.
They served many churches, including Evangelical Covenant Church, Lafayette, Indiana; Countryside Covenant Church, Glenview, Illinois; Eagle Rock Community Covenant Church, Eagle Rock, California; and Rolling Hills Covenant Church, Rolling Hills, California. They planted Crown Valley, Laguna Nigel, California, and Kerman Covenant, Kerman, California, before moving to Ohio where Robert was the Middle East Conference Nucleus Builder. They then moved to Clearwater, Florida, where Robert was the Southeast Conference Superintendent. They retired to Modesto, California, in 1984.
After Robert’s death in 1996, Ruth and Clarence Winstedt re-connected as friends and were married in 1998. They lived in Walnut Creek and Roseville, California, before moving to Covenant Village in Turlock.
Ruth was foremost a servant of Jesus and the church. She had a strong, quiet faith and served the Lord with commitment and dedication. Through her gift of hospitality, she provided meals for many people in their homes throughout the years. She also accompanied Robert on pastoral calls to families in all the churches they served.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Honnette; and her second husband, Clarence Winstedt. She is survived by her three children, Donna Johnson, Dean Honnette (Robin), and Richard Honnette (Cyndi); eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Peace be to her memory.
