Becky Holmlund, wife of retired Covenant minister Bill Holmlund, died December 11, 2024, after a six-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 81.
Rebecca Lynn Johnson was born in Akron, Ohio, to parents Ray and Irene Johnson. Rebecca, her parents, and siblings, Doug and Phyllis, were charter members of North Haven Covenant Church in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Her childhood summers were spent at Mission Meadows Covenant Camp near Jamestown, New York.
After graduating from North Park College, she participated in the Covenant’s Youth Caravan, a year-long traveling worship and praise team. She helped lead a college group at Berkeley Covenant Church in Berkeley, California.
She met Bill Holmlund at a conference at Mission Springs Camp and Conference Center in Scotts Valley, California. They married on June 22, 1969.
Together they served several Covenant churches, including Valley Evangelical Covenant Church in Stillman Valley, Illinois; Bethany Covenant Church in Ripon, California; Community Covenant Church in Kirkwood, Missouri; and finally First Evangelical Covenant Church in Denver, Colorado, where they spent the last thirty years. Mission Springs became a favorite place of rest and rejuvenation over forty-five years for the Holmlund family.
Becky worked for many years with Youth For Christ. She was gracious, loving, and kind. She was a friend to anyone she met and had a smile that will always be remembered.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Linnea Lewis, David (Elizabeth), and Lisa; and five grandchildren.
Peace be to her memory.
