Forgive Us: Confessions of a Compromised Faith
by: Soong-Chan Rah, Mae Elise Cannon, Lisa Sharon Harper, and Troy Jackson

Evangelical Christianity in America has a reputation for political self-interest and hurtful attitudes toward homosexuals, women, minorities, followers of different religions, and others outside its fold. Though sometimes unfair, sadly, this reputation is too often deserved. In Forgive Us, four evangelical leaders confess the church’s public failings and call their fellow believers to reengage the surrounding culture in a new and better way.

Finding Common Ground on LGBTQ+ Ministry

By Randall Wilkins with contributions from Make and Deepen Disciples and a feedback team

Rooted in the values expressed in our six Covenant affirmations, the Evangelical Covenant Church has historically sought to find common ground on areas where many Christians have been divided. In light of this heritage, a diverse group of Covenanters (initially spearheaded by Pastor Randall Wilkens) developed a list of suggested ways in which we might find common ground in our ministry with and to LGBTQ+ people. This document is not meant to be an “official” statement or resolution of the ECC, but we do believe it can serve as a starting point for conversations on how we can all tangibly excel in love for LGBTQ+ people.

Lead Them Home: Justice Initiatives

There is no greater need today than for the evangelical church to stand up and be counted in the effort to eradicate anti-gay bullying, reduce gay teen suicide, and combat gay teen homelessness. Lead Them Home offers three ways to express justice in these critical areas.

Prior to moving to the USA, I was a professor at the National University of Colombia and served with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Colombia for 16 years. Starting in 2001, I served as InterVarsity National Staff in the USA. I have a master’s degree in Christian Ministries, and I serve in Spiritual Direction to those who want to be fully present and available to God and receive His grace over them. My joy is to see professors and college students coming to know Jesus and being transformed into people that bring the good news of righteousness and justice to others.
