Project Blue

Project Blue

Launched in 2015, Project Blue is Covenant World Relief & Development’s clean water initiative. It raises awareness about the global need for clean water and sanitation, shining a light on the injustices faced by communities without access to these essentials.

Through education, engagement, and collective action, Project Blue works to provide sustainable solutions that transform lives. By supporting this initiative, you help bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education to communities in need—reducing preventable diseases and fostering healthier, more equitable futures.

Together, we can make clean water accessible to all!

Clean Water Changes Everything

Why Project Blue?

The need for clean water is immense, but there is incredible hope in joining the work God is doing. Project Blue reflects the Covenant World Relief & Development (CWRD) tagline, “Partners in Transformation,” as it seeks to create change on two levels:

  1. Transforming Communities. Project Blue works to provide access to clean water, transforming lives by addressing critical needs and empowering communities.

  2. Transforming Us. As we engage with Project Blue, we are challenged to grow in our understanding of poverty, injustice, and the global water crisis. This journey transforms our perspective, helping us see others as brothers and sisters worthy of dignity and respect, and shaping us more into the likeness of Christ.

The Impact of Clean Water

  • Clean water saves lives. Providing clean water is one of the fastest ways to save lives, as it directly addresses preventable illnesses and ensures survival.
  • Clean water improves health. By eliminating waterborne diseases and improving sanitation, clean water promotes healthier individuals and communities.
  • Clean water frees up time. With easier access to water, people no longer have to walk miles or spend hours on tasks like cooking, cleaning, and washing. This opens opportunities to attend school, join the workforce, and improve their families and communities.
  • Clean water strengthens economies. Healthier people and increased workforce participation lead to stronger local economies and better futures for entire communities.
  • Clean water promotes equity. Women and girls, disproportionately affected by the lack of clean water, benefit greatly. With access to clean water, women spend less time gathering water or caring for sick children and more time improving their families and communities. Girls who no longer need to carry water can attend school, and women often become leaders in water committees, reshaping family and community dynamics.

Prior to moving to the USA, I was a professor at the National University of Colombia and served with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Colombia for 16 years. Starting in 2001, I served as InterVarsity National Staff in the USA. I have a master’s degree in Christian Ministries, and I serve in Spiritual Direction to those who want to be fully present and available to God and receive His grace over them. My joy is to see professors and college students coming to know Jesus and being transformed into people that bring the good news of righteousness and justice to others.
