CHICAGO, IL (November 14, 2016) – David Dwight, president of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence (CMB), announced his retirement today.
“Little did I know 37 years ago when I accepted a position as assistant administrator at Covenant Village of Northbrook that my life’s work would lead to being president of CMB,” Dwight said. “I have been unbelievably blessed and am grateful for the opportunity to have served in this capacity and within the ministry of the ECC.”
Dwight has served in multiple capacities, including as president of Covenant Retirement Communities from 1997 to 2002, and as CMB president since then.
“I believe the timing of my retirement is right for both CMB and me,” Dwight said. “We have gone through significant changes and continue to position CMB for the future so it is time for fresh eyes and new leadership to take this ministry into new directions.”
Jennifer Larson, chair of the board of CMB, said, “David has been an incredible leader and has exemplified his love for the Lord, the Evangelical Covenant Church, Covenant Ministries of Benevolence, the affiliates, and to so many others that he has touched throughout his years. His missional heart has always been in the right place and I know that he will continue to make a lasting difference throughout his retirement.”
The affiliated ministries of CMB have grown under Dwight’s leadership. Those ministries include Covenant Retirement Communities, Swedish Covenant Hospital, and Covenant Initiatives for Care, which oversees and develops Covenant Enabling Residences, Covenant Children’s Ministries, and Adelbrook Behavioral and Development Services. Dwight also directed the reorganization of CMB, which included the sale of Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California.
