The next Embrace webinar, “Embodied: Transgendered Identities, the Church, and What the Bible Has to Say,” will be a conversation with Preston Sprinkle at noon (Central), Thursday, March 18.
Michelle Sanchez, executive minister of Make and Deepen Disciples mission priority of the Evangelical Covenant Church, will host the discussion.
The conversation will draw on Sprinkle’s new book of the same name. Embodied explores themes that include what it means to be transgender, nonbinary, and gender-queer; how transgender experiences relate to the Bible’s statement that people were created in God’s image as male and female; understanding gender dysphoria; as well as moral questions such as sex reassignment surgery.
Sprinkle is the president of the Center for Faith, Sexuality, and Gender and a New York Times-bestselling author. He hosts the podcast “Theology in the Raw,” which considers controversial topics.
He holds a doctorate in New Testament from Aberdeen University and formerly taught theology at Cedarville University. He is now a full-time author and speaker.
