Crescendo Conference 2024

Crescendo’s annual virtual conference was held on May 21, 2024. Together we explored the natural process of aging and adapting to unexpected challenges. View the presentations, recorded talks, and breakout discussions as we embrace the power of community, storytelling, and caregiving in this journey.

Caregiving for Aging Parents and Family Members

This four-session study is designed to encourage and educate caregivers of all ages or prepare those anticipating caregiving in the future. Topics explored include overview and elements of caregiving, care for the caregiving, and caregiving as a transforming experience.

Grandparenting

This study is the third in a series with topics to assist boomers and beyond grow as missional disciples and engage in purposeful living all the days of their lives.

The purpose is to encourage, inspire, inform, and nurture individuals in the purpose and practices of grandparenting, whether engaged with biological or adoptive grandchildren.

On the Road Again

Crescendo is “On the Road Again!” This virtual gathering focused on helping the 60+ age group (boomers and beyond) re-tool, re-imagine, and re-focus after the pandemic season. Crescendo ministry, like beautifully orchestrated music, is a process, not a program. It is designed to release the missional potential of 60+ adults to build God’s Kingdom. Topics include naming and processing losses, investing in younger generations, and building connections through legacy stories.

Adding Zest to Life

How are we staying fresh and green all the days of our lives? This six-week series will focus on a framework for Crescendo living called SPICES. It is intended to inspire boomers and beyond to hear what God is saying about their value in His plan, the importance of continued growth, and the significance of passing on the faith to future generations and serving the Lord in their communities.

Mentoring Small Group Study

The Crescendo: Mentoring Small Group Study begins with an overview of mentoring and an explanation of the difference between mentoring and coaching. Throughout the study’s five sessions, you will explore mentoring relationships in the Bible, including Jesus as the ultimate mentor. The closing session provides mentoring guidelines and tips.

Ascent to Vital Living Small Group Study

This study takes a deeper look at the SPICES framework presented in Crescendo. SPICES is an acronym that describes the framework for planning that can be used as we envision ministries by, with, and for persons in their pre-retirement and retirement years. The elements of SPICES are Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Community, Emotional, and Service.

Prior to moving to the USA, I was a professor at the National University of Colombia and served with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Colombia for 16 years. Starting in 2001, I served as InterVarsity National Staff in the USA. I have a master’s degree in Christian Ministries, and I serve in Spiritual Direction to those who want to be fully present and available to God and receive His grace over them. My joy is to see professors and college students coming to know Jesus and being transformed into people that bring the good news of righteousness and justice to others.
