Early Registration Open for Gather 2021
Early registration is now open for Gather 2021, which includes the 135th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Ministerium annual meeting and vocational development, and the Commissioning, Ordination, and Credentialing Service. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting will be held virtually June 22-26.
Early registration will remain open through April 30. Registration closes after June 7.
The Annual Meeting is the highest legislative session in the Covenant. The business meeting will be held June 23-26. It has been expanded a day to include action on unfinished business from last year.
The Ministerium will hold its meeting on June 22-23. The ordination service will be June 26.
In order to send their allotted delegates, each church must complete and submitt the 2019 Annual Statistical Report (available here) in order to receive a delegate credential letter, and elect delegates to represent their church. The number of delegates per church is based on attendance according to the Covenant constitution and bylaws.
The denominational team is working with Annual Meeting officers, Ministerium officers, the Covenant President’s Office, Develop Leaders team, and credentialing committee to ensure all delegates and attendees can engage in the business sessions, worship, and vocational development courses.
Churches should ensure that their delegates have the technological resources necessary to participate in the business meeting, including computer, cell phone, internet connectivity, video and computer microphone, and headphones.
All delegates will need to ensure they are in a defined, secure location for the entirety of the meeting, and only one delegate per computer will be permissible.
When leaders announced in January that the meeting would be held virtually, president John Wenrch said, “I grieve that we will not be able to meet in person, but I remain steadfast that our virtual time together will be engaging and fruitful. As a mosaic of mission friends, we know that our work remains vital in sharing the good news around the world.”
He added, “A virtual gathering will also make it possible for every church to send their allotted delegates. This will reduce a justice gap that has existed for many years.”
The Commissioning, Ordination, and Credentialing Service will be livecast the evening of June 26. Because no service was held in 2020, a total of 107 people are expected to finalize their credentials this year, said Lance Davis, executive minister of Ordered Ministry and Develop Leaders.
